Printmaking Project

Printmaking Project

The endangered animal that I chose to printmake was the Hawksbill Turtle. This animal is endangered because of human interaction. Their eggs are eaten around the world and they are sometimes killed for their flesh and their amazing shells. I chose to use this specific animal because I had a baby pet turtle when I was a little kid that was named Junior and he died because of the heat during the summer. This art could potentially help save this endangered species because it can inspire people to take action after seeing how beautiful they are through this print and save animal from extinction. This printmaking project is where you sketch a picture of the animal, trace over it with a graphite pencil and print it onto a linoleum block. I then used the carving tool to carve out what parts of the block that I wanted to keep and leave the sections I wanted there. Then after I was done with that, I used ink to print it onto the paper. And the picture above was my final result. During this project, my favorite part about it was printing it onto the paper to create my final. It was cool to see the final result of what I had been working on because it is sometimes hard to see the final result without printing it onto the paper.
